Michelle M. Guthrie
Counsellor/Health & Wellbeing Leader
I understand that Counselling (otherwise known as talking therapy) can appear daunting if you have never been through the process before. I can assure you that there is nothing to fear. In the first few sessions, we will work to build a rapport together so that trust can be built. You will always have the opportunity to share what you would like to talk about in the session without any judgement.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I can use a number of different approaches to support you. I will work with you in a person-centred way so that you are encouraged to explore your behaviour, feelings and thoughts to develop a deeper understanding of who you are as a person. The goal is to help you to become more self aware so that you are in a position to make positive changes in your life.
My fees start at £65.00 per session. Each session is 50 minutes. You can also book a block of four one-to-one sessions for a discounted rate of £240.00. Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly. Currently I only have availability for individual counselling sessions online.
I offer a free 20 minute consultation so that you get the opportunity to see if you would like to work with me. I can be contacted at mguthrie28@yahoo.co.uk or by phone on 07936 507003.
I am Michelle, a qualified Integrative Counsellor and a Health and Wellbeing Leader. Based in Tooting Bec, I work face to face with clients in the South London area covering the boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth. My online work with clients covers all of the UK.
For me, both roles are not just a job, but a heartfelt commitment helping individuals in navigating challenges that life can bring and achieving holistic health. In my role as a Counsellor, I incorporate techniques and theories from different approaches so that I can tailor the way that I work with clients.
Depending on the issues you bring to the session, it could be useful to use a psychodynamic approach to explore unconscious conflicts, childhood experiences and any deep rooted patterns of behaviour. This would then contribute to healing and personal growth. If you find that you are having negative thoughts, I will work with you to challenge and replace them with healthier alternatives using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
We will, if appropriate, discuss what can be done to help you outside of the sessions. Confidentiality will always be of paramount importance in every session and your privacy will be maintained at all times. I always work to standards required by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Are you feeling stuck in life and don’t know where to turn? It could be that you are dealing with the loss of a loved one, health challenges or maybe you are feeling anxious and overwhelmed. These are just some of the many issues where counselling can be of enormous benefit.
The following list includes some of the areas I work with:
In addition to Counselling, I work with people to support their mental health, happiness and quality of life. I help to raise awareness about various aspects of health and wellbeing. I also work collaboratively with other health professionals. I run support groups and workshops on various health related topics including Bereavement, Grief and Loss.
